For years tourism in California and Los Angeles grew at record pace, largely driven by new visitors from Asia. According to the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, in 2018 alone 32.8 million out of the 50 million visitors to the region stayed overnight.

The Hilton Universal City experienced firsthand how new attractions spurred a jump in visitors to the area. In fact, due to the popularity of area attractions, the Hilton Universal City effectively operated at capacity throughout the year.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a severe blow to tourism and the hospitality industry, we believe there will be a recovery and we are investing to meet that future demand for hotel rooms and meeting spaces.

More hotel rooms will be needed to meet the visitor demand that will only grow in the years to come as more new attractions come online, local businesses recover and grow, and Los Angeles welcomes the world when it hosts the Summer Olympics in 2028.
